Cyrano de Bergerac

Cyrano:  30-45, a soldier, swordsman, poet; passionate, articulate, uncompromising; secretly in love with his cousin Roxane; must be skilled with language and should move well.  LEAD.

Roxane:  20-30, an exceptionally beautiful heiress; romantic, intelligent, with a deep love for poetry and wit.  INGENUE LEAD.

Christian:  20-30, a handsome nobleman, a soldier in Cyrano’s company of Guards; inarticulate but not stupid.  In love with Roxane.  INGENUE LEAD.

De Guiche:  25-40,  a powerful, rich nobleman also in love with Roxane; caustic, manipulative, worldly.  SECOND MALE LEAD.

Ragueneau:  20-30, a pastry cook, amateur poet with a passion for verse; romantic, unrealistic, loyal to Cyrano.  SUPPORTING  CHARACTER.

Le Bret:  20-30, Cyrano’s friend and a soldier; a practical man, concerned about Cyrano’s safety and health.

Ligniere:  20-30,Christian’sfriend and a drunkard; poet, satirist.  SUPPORTING CHARACTER.

The Duenna:  20-30, Roxane’s companion and chaperone, perhaps reminiscent of the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet.  SUPPORTING CHARACTER.

De Valvert:  20-30, insolent young nobleman, perhaps effete.  SUPPORTING CHARACTER

Montfleury:  20-30, a corpulent professional actor, hammy, over-the-top.  SUPPORTING CHARACTER.

Carbon de Castel-Jaloux:  20-30, Cyrano’s friend and a soldier, captain of the company; strong, masculine, a leader.

You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown

Charlie Brown:  Clumsy, lacks confidence.  Never pitched a winning baseball game, never won a game of checkers, never been able to keep a kite in the air.  Sends valentines to everyone but gets none in return.  Range:  Bb2-F4.

Sally Brown:  Charlie Brown’s sister.  Trying to figure things out without a lot of help from her older brother.  Sings “My New Philosophy.”  Range: B3-Ab5

Lucy Van Pelt:  Self-proclaimed Queen and psychiatrist of the clan.  Sally gives her 110 points out of 100 for crabbiness, objectionable personality, and poor ability to get along with others.  Sings “Little Known Facts.”  Range:  G3-F5

Linus Van Pelt:  Lucy’s baby brother and philosopher of the clan. “Sucking your thumb without a blanket is like eating a cone without ice cream.”  Range:  Bb2-E4

Schroeder:  Artist of the clan.  Broods over his piano, which he is constantly practicing.  Sings “Beethoven Day.”  Range:  Bb2-Ab4.

Snoopy:  Charlie Brown’s best friend and leader of the pack.  While the other characters struggle with the complexities of life and growing up, Snoopy keeps things simple and fun (because he is a dog).  Range: C3-A4

Reno Sweeney:  A sexy evangelist turned nightclub singer. Range:  low F to B.

Hope Harcourt:  A beautiful debutante, engaged to Evelyn. Range: low bB to high F

Evangeline Harcourt:  Hope’s mother, a widow.
